Outside our front door, there was some crepe paper that you had to limbo to get past. Then, at the front entrance, there was this sign:
There was also a table to sign in with a picture of Jared and some carnations sprayed black:
And a widow's fund box (I made 30 cents!)
Also, a sign in sheet "In Loving Memory of Jared Kent Ashworth".
Then, there was a video montage of pictures of Jared throughout that last 30 years with inappropriate funeral music playing (ie: Don't Fear the Reaper, Highway to @#!*% , Another One Bites the Dust, Stairway to Heaven, Poor Jud is Dead, Only the Good Die Young, etc)
And here's the cake...Chocolate with chocolate ganache filling and oreo crumbs and gummy worms, and a buttercream frosting I dyed green....you get the idea:
Alia and I wore black because we were in mourning, and Jared dressed up in full black garb, our walking corpse:
One of our friends, put together an "Old man kit" for Jared as a gift. Very funny...
And as always, I "surprised" Jared with a candy gram.
Overall, I think the party was a success, and Jared had a good time. We think we might make it a tradition every 10 years (Jared's 40th, 50th, etc) we'll hold another funeral/death themed party. We'll see...maybe next time it'll be Dante's Inferno themed...Well, I do have 10 years to plan... :)
