So, I guess Jared and I had to move away from the beach to really appreciate it and miss it. After Jared finished "Math Camp" he had about a week off before he had to start real school. We decided it would be a fun time to take our first trip to explore some of the south and also enjoy the beach on this side of the country. We went down to Myrtle Beach for the week.
We had a great time down in Myrtle Beach. One of Jared's best friends from high school (Mike) has an aunt who lives down there and works at the Palace Theater. She got us great tickets to some shows. We went to Le Grande Cirque (an acrobatic show), Legends in Concert (a concert with a bunch of celebrity impersonators performing), Masters of Magic ( a magic show), and we even sneaked in to see the end of The Spirit of Ireland (Irish Tenors and Riverdance performers). It was a blast! During the magic show, Jared was actual selected from the audience to go on stage. They performed a trick with Jared in a guillatine, then they made Jared disappear on stage. Then, Jared reappeared on stage during another trick. It was definitely a fun night. We also spent a lot of time at the beach. It was really fun, and fyi: the Atlantic Ocean is warm!
We also decided to drive down to Charleston and spend the day. We met up with some friends and took a carriage ride for some historic site seeing, took a ferry ride over to Fort Sumpter, and even tried our first ever she-crab soup (really yummy!). Charleston is a beautiful city full of so much history, and the weather was perfect. We had a fantastic time on our first trip to South Carolina!

Here's Jared in front of the Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach at Broadway at the Beach. This is where we got to see most of the show. It's a beautiful theatre. Thanks for all the tickets, Pam!

Jared and I relaxing on the beach.

Jared is just like a big kid. He could've played in the water forever! We had a great time body surfing, playing frisbie, and just enjoying the day.

Here's our friends, Joe and Stephanie who we met up with down in Charleston. We had so much fun spending the day with you guys!

Here's a couple shots from our carriage ride tour in Charleston. This is a church in historic downtown.

This is a home! Can you believe the size of this place?!?!

This street is called Rainbow Road. The buildings here were very colorful (hence the name).

Jared and I on the carriage during the buggy ride.

Some of the original canons at Fort Sumpter.

More of Fort Sumpter.

These are all on display at the Fort. Each of these flags were displayed on the fort at one time or other. Now, they have them all up.

Fort Sumpter cont...

Jared and another canon. They were pretty awesome.

And here we are on the ferry with the Charleston Bridge in the backround.
