Over Labor Day weekend, we were invited to go down to the OuterBanks of NC with some friends. They had rented a HUGE beach house and happened to have a spare room. So, immediately after I got off work on Saturday, we headed down for our 4 hour trek to Duck, NC.
Even though it was pretty soon after the hurricane, the beaches were still open, and it was beautiful! The beach house was quite big and had everything from a private pool, volleyball court, pool table, and two kitchens to huge wrap around two story deck and 8 bedrooms.
It was fun to take Alia down to the beach (a 5 min walk) and see what she thought of everything. I think the waves scared her a bit (especially because Dad wasn't paying close attention and she got hit a little by one) but she LOVED the sand. She couldn't stop looking at it and playing with it and squeezing it between her toes. We also spent a good amount of time playing in the pool (I think Alia liked this better because she could actually splash a play a bit). It is so fun to see her exploring and experiencing these new things for the first time. :)
We had a wonderful, long weekend, and can't wait to get out to the beach again sometime...especially with visitors...hint hint... :)
