Duke Basketball

So, basketball season has just begun, and for Duke students (and spouses) this means it's time for some awesome games and some hard core cheering! We were able to go to the opening Duke Kickoff Scrimage, and a couple of exhibition games (vs. Findlay, Charlotte, and Coastal Carolina) thusfar. It's sheer pandemonium in Cameron Stadium with the stands packed with Duke students and fans (even for these early games).

The stadium itself is actually quite small, so it makes quite the intimidating scene for the visiting teams. Tickets for non-students are incredibly difficult to get. And as I mentioned in a previous blog, tickets for students requires some extra effort as well-Duke Campout. The grad student section is pretty cool. We are on the bleachers directly behind one of the baskets. There is of course no sitting, except for during half-time, and it is quite the workout. There are cheers for everything and many include jumping and other actions. It's quite the experience, and we're loving it! Jared somehow managed to get A TICKET to the coveted Duke/Carolina game at Cameron in February. Undergrads campout literally for weeks to get tickets. He's pretty excited. GO Blue Devils! :)
"More than Double!" & "Drive Home Safely" (two of the meaner cheers) But that's what we're smiling about: the end score of the game.
Here's an action shot I caught on my phone from the Findlay game. This is the view from our "seats". Pretty awesome!

Only one ticket to the game? Unfair - unless you have figured out a way to clone the ticket.
