So, this is a post to brag a bit about my amazing husband. He has officially completed his first year in the Econ PhD program at Duke. He managed to get good enough grades (B+'s and A's) so he doesn't have to take any qualifying exams this summer. First off, this is a HUGE accomplishment. Not too many of his fellow students get this luxury. But also for Jared, this means a few things: 1. He can officially stay in the program, 2. He gets 2 months off of school to completely veg and probably play lots of video games, 3. He gets to go to the Rush concert in DC in Sept. (this will be his 4th concert in the 6 yrs we've been married), and 4. We will be here in Durham for at least the next 4ish years. (bitter sweet...)
This year has definitely been a busy one for him. And I know that at times I've felt a bit more like a single mom, or a taxi driver, or a cook than a wife. But, not to brag too much, but my husband is the smartest man I know, and I'm so incredibly grateful for him and all that he does. And I couldn't be more proud!

That is awesome news for Jared! Congrats! If he hasn't and had the discipline not to completely play the game 24/7 - he may way to try World of Warcraft...and if he does, let Mark know. WoW has been a sanity maker for Mark.
And for you, Kristie, I'm sure that Jared credits you for his much of his success. If he doesn't, I will have a long talk with him when you are in Billings.
Way to go Jared! All the hard work and stress paid off. So happy you get to have a nice, relaxing summer!
Maybe a trip to LA is in order...hint hint.
Great job Jared! We miss you guys!
Congratulations!!
We're so proud!
